6 Tips for a Bathroom Remodel

1. If you move the plumbing, you increase the time and cost of your project.

Unless the change would make a huge difference, consider finding ways to live with the current layout and make it work for you.

2. Are you a shower or tub person?

Is your future homeowner a shower or tub person? Most people love a giant spa tub, but few people actually use them. It’s important to keep not only your wants and needs realistic, but to keep in mind the future homeowner’s wants and needs. You might want to have a shower big enough for 10 people, but is it realistic and does the next person want that?

3. Double or single sink?

If you’ve got the space, industry standard is double. But don’t forget the importance of counter space in your quest for the perfect double sink. Sometimes one with adequate counter space is better.

4. Find your inspiration.

A small space like a bathroom can handle a lot of personality. Start with something you absolutely love and let that dictate your choices.

5. The past is better left behind.

Mixing old and new doesn’t work so well in a bathroom. If your faucets look dated, it’s because they are. Start fresh and new and choose moderately priced fixtures to save money.

6. Consult an expert.

At Wheeler Kitchen and Bath, we will help you as much or as little as you want. From project management to helping you shop for the right pieces, we will guide you through the remodeling process.
